FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

1. What is physical therapy?
Physical therapy is a healthcare specialty focused on helping individuals restore movement, reduce pain, improve function, and prevent disability following injury, surgery, illness, or chronic conditions. Physical therapists use evidence-based techniques such as therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, education, and modalities (e.g., heat, cold, ultrasound, electrical stimulation) to promote healing and enhance quality of life.

Physical therapy is often used to:

  • Rehabilitate after orthopedic surgery or injury
  • Manage chronic musculoskeletal pain
  • Improve mobility and balance
  • Prevent future injuries
  • Enhance performance for athletes and active individuals

Licensed physical therapists are trained to assess movement dysfunction, create personalized treatment plans, and guide patients through every phase of recovery.

2. Do I need a referral to begin physical therapy?
In most cases, you will not need a referral for physical therapy.  However, some insurance plans require a physician referral (ie Medicare), while others allow direct access to physical therapy. Contact us, and we’ll help you check your specific requirements.

We treat a wide range of physical conditions, including, but not limited to:

Treatment Process

11. What can I expect during my first visit?
Your first visit includes a detailed evaluation by a licensed physical therapist, followed by a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs and goals.

12. How many visits will I need?
The number of visits depends on your diagnosis, severity, and personal progress. Your therapist will regularly reassess and adjust your plan accordingly.

13. Will I see the same therapist each time?
We strive to provide consistency in your care by scheduling you with the same therapist throughout your entire course of treatment. However, there may be occasional circumstances—such as scheduling conflicts, therapist availability, or the need for a specific area of expertise—when you may work with a different therapist. Rest assured, all of our therapists communicate closely to ensure seamless, high-quality care tailored to your needs.
